About The Youth
Who are the Rohingya?
The Rohingya are one of the most persecuted minorities in the world. They have been living in the state of Arakan since the earliest age of the 8th century in Burma (now commonly known as Myanmar). For the past decades the Rohingyas have been under extreme scrutiny and discrimination by the Burmese government in many aspects. They have been consistently denied of their rights as citizens of The Union of Burma since the military coup of 1962. The Genocide has been going on ever since. However, in recent years the violence against Rohingya have escalated to a genocide level and many of the survivors have fled.
